SIDUR is a non-profit, secular, charitable society established in the year 1990 to address the problems plaguing street children, urban and rural poor and dalits. This organization works on the philosophy of empowering the oppressed to create an egalitarian society that is just and free. The operational area of SIDUR is 92 slums in Hyderabad and Secunderabad and 5 districts in Andra Pradesh state. The annual operating budget is $625,000

Gramalaya - blossomed with a group of committed youth in the field of rural development, was established in 1987. The main goal of the organizations is to work for t he amelioration of socially downtrodden people under the integrated rural development approach. The operational areas are Thottiam and Thathaiengarpet Block of Tiruchirapalli district, Tamilnadu state.

Major activities of Gramalaya:
Water, Sanitation and hygiene promotion, micro credits, watershed projects, housing to houseless, business counseling centers, HIV/AIDS prevention, rural and urban health development, promotion of SHGs and toilet technology centre.

Mythri Sarva Seva Samithi is a non-profit organization registered under Karnataka So cieties Act 1960. This agency is active in the slums of Bangalore and adjacent areas for the past 18 years. Currently Mythri is convener of an NGO Forum for street and working children comprising 24 NGOs and is active in networking efforts in favour of urban poor in Bangalore city.

Major activities of Mythri:
Promoting various development activities for water and sanitation promotion, emancipation of street children, slum development program, child rights activities, solid waste management, promoting better urban governance and net working are key activities of Mythri.

ODP is a voluntary, non-profit organization of Mysore Diocesan Social Service Society working since Jan 1984, and registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act. ODP aims to develop and strengthen under-privileged people through participatory approaches, by organizing community based people’s groups towards creating self -managed and self-reliant communities. ODP firmly believe that animation / awareness and people’s participation - are the two key factors to achieve sustainable development. ODP is working in 4 districts, namely Mysore, Kodagu, Mandya and Chamarajnagar in Karnataka covering 17 taluks, 88 towns,202 Panchayaths and 447 villages

Major activities of Organization for the Development of People:
Women Empowerment – established MAHILODAYA, the apex level federation that coordinates the entire women empowerment initiatives of ODP; Peoples Institutions - Grama Vikasa Swasahaya Sanghagala Mahaa Okkuta (GVSSMO), a federation for farmers; Drinking water supply and Sanitation project – to provide water facilities, toilets and rain water harvesting structures; Natural resource management and many allied activities are being implemented.

S ociety for Community Organization and Peoples Education (SCOPE) is a non-profit organization registered under the Public Trust Act and works since 1986. SCOPE covers interior villages of Musiri Block in Tiruchirapalli District and Perambalur Block of Perambalur District of Tamil Nadu.

Major activities of SCOPE:
Watershed management, drinking water supplies and sanitation, health & hygiene promotion, sanitary mart and production centre, dairy development, housing, biogas plants, solid waste management, capacitating government department officials on community based water and sanitation, promotion of women self help groups etc.

Bharat Integrated Social Welfare Agency (BISWA) was established as a philanthropic organization in 1994. In pursuance of its objectives, in later stages it has incorporated various means and methods to achieve desirable results. The strategic focus of BISWA is to create enabling environment in which people have access to opportunities, maximize their potentials and participate actively in the development process and shape the present and future needs o the community. Currently BISWA works in 14 Indian states

Major activities of BISWA:
Promotion of Self Help Groups (SHGs), extending Micro-finance, encouraging Micro-enterprise, creating water and sanitation structures, natural resources management, ensuring social justice for disabled, socio-economic rehabilitation of leprosy cured persons, creating avenues for alternative livelihood for poor have been adopted since a long time and have proven to be effective tools for poverty alleviation.

Evangelical Social Action F orum (ESAF) was established in 1992 under the patronage of Kerala Evangelical Graduates Fellowship and registered under Travancore Cochin Literal and Scientific Charitable Societies Act of 1955. ESAF stands for sustainable wholistic transformation of the poor and marginalized for a just society. Evangelical Social Action Forum is born out of deep conviction that teaching and preaching should go hand in hand with social action.

Major activities of ESAF:
ESAF provides broad package of financial services to poor people through its Micro Enterprise Development (MED) activities; focuses on skills development of women through “Grass roots women training programs”; extends relief works to vulnerable communities during disasters; implements natural resources management program; undertakes community driven water and sanitation programs; organize literacy programs; provides houses to houseless families; and works for community health and rehabilitation.

Gramalaya Urban and Rural Development Initiatives and Network is non-profit making company established during November 2007, under Sec.25 of the Indian Companies Act, 1956. Main purpose of GUARDIAN is to provide m icro finance and support services for urban and rural poor to create access water and sanitation facilities. The area of operation includes Tiruchirapalli City Corporation and nine blocks of Tiruchirapalli District. .

Major activities of Gramalaya:
Promotion of Self Help Groups, Joint Liability Groups, lending exclusively for creation of water and sanitation facilities for poor, providing technical guidance, working with elected representatives and bankers.

Hand in Hand is a Public Charitable Trust registered in the year 2002 with an initial focus on child labor elimination, education, and the empowerment of women. The organization has been in operation since 1988 in Kancheepuram District, Tamil Nadu, India. With time, our activities have expanded as per the demands from the rural communities in which we are working, and have come to include poverty reduction interventions among rural, poor families in a big way. We envisage an integrated strategy to address the challenges of poverty and underdevelopment. It aims at building self-reliance of disadvantaged groups by alleviating poverty through sustained income generating programs. Hand in Hand currently covers 14 districts in Tamilnadu state and Union Territory of Pondicherry.

BASIX is a new generation livelihood promotion institution established in 1996, working with over 500,000 households in 70 districts in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Chattisgarh, West Bengal, Delhi and Assam. Its mission is to promote a large number of sustainable livelihoods, including for the rural poor and women, through the provision of financial services and technical assistance in an integrated manner. BASIX will strive to yield a competitive rate of return to its investors so as to be able to access mainstream capital and human resources on a continuous basis.

WaterPartners sponsored WaterCredit Pilot Initiative

BASIX has piloted the water credit initiative at various locations in India.. like Indore slums, New Delhi slums, Hyderabad slums and Ganjam (Orissa) rural areas. Every location has its own learning based on which BASIX devised strategies. The first round of watercredit loans are in the stage of completion.
